The India Development Gateway aims to facilitate the flow of capital into social enterprises. This is expected to be achieved through the creation of a large eco-system that would consist of multiple stake-holders including investors (Foundations, individual investors, family offices, angel investor groups, other multiple bottom-line funds), enterprises and their networks, catalyst groups promoting this eco-system through capacity-building of enterprises and less expensive local service providers (Legal Counsels, Due Diligence etc.) that are necessary for such an ecosystem to thrive.

IDG aims to provide an online platform that brings highly investible social enterprises and social investors together. This will be complemented with various offline activities like Sankalp 2009. The core objective of this online platform is to collapse transaction costs for businesses requiring smaller sizes of investments (under USD $3 million) so that deal making is more efficient, at the same time playing a significant role in the pre-investment and post-investment phases.

The platform is under construction and will be rolled out soon.

One of IDG's major offline initiatives is Sanklap 2009. Being organised in partnership with organisations such as The Rockefeller Foundation, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the Rural Innovation Network (RIN) it is the region's first investment forum for emerging enterprises as well as ideas that aim to solve pressing issues of the day in a sustainable and profitable manner.
